This is the old Web-site for the "Dillville" Tent City of Lakewood, NJ. Our camp was bulldozed by the Lakewood Township government in June 2014! This Web-site is preserved for historical reasons.
The existence of Tent City is made possible by our wonderful community of local supporters and volunteers. This page can only highlight some of the examples of the help and support that Tent City has received over its 8+ year history...
We hope to expand this page as more content becomes available.
Cindy Lanouette is a superhero volunteer from South Carolina! She originally came to New Jersey to help with the relief efforts after Hurricane Sandy, and learned about Tent City of Lakewood, NJ. Since then she returned to Tent City numerous times, spending about 50 weeks living with us in a tent, providing vital help for Minister Steve and other Tent City residents and volunteers.
Cindy has truly made a positive difference in the lives of the hundreds of people who have been through Tent City over the past two years! Words cannot describe how immensely grateful we are to Cindy for all her help!
Chef Jeff is a superstar supporter of Tent City.
Between February and September 2013, he has served over 4500 home-cooked dinners on Saturday nights, donated antibacterial water tanks and furniture, brought in nearly 3 tons of drinking water (equivalent to 500 cases of bottled water), organized donation drop-off boxes, dropped off 100+ bags of clothes, and has made significant financial contributions to Tent City.
Jeff also provided transportation services to help people get to doctor's appointments, Social Services, shopping, etc. We are immensely grateful to Chef Jeff for all his hard work to help Tent City and its residents.
Debbie & Paul, the Tent City Worship Team, are musical artists who regularly visit Tent City to perform at Minister Steve's chapel service.
